Culinary Arts Institute's Encyclopedic Cookbook, 1950s
The spine cloth on this 1950s cookbook was missing and both covers were being kept with the book using rubber bands and tape. The owner wasn't interested in aesthetics, only in putting the book back in working order. The old tapes adhesive residues were removed, the textblock was relined, and new endbands were added to match the missing and damaged originals. The covers were reattached with an extended cloth hinge and new yellow bookcloth to match the original, and the original pictorial endsheets were realigned and secured with a translucent heat-set tissue.
